REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
Each Spring 23 first-year admit has a randomly assigned registration time Monday, December 12, 2022.
SPRING FIRST YEAR ADMIT COURSE RECOMMENDATIONS
Build your preferred schedule of 12-17 units for Spring 2023 based on your individualized course recommendations. These can be found in My Degree Path in your Connect student portal starting xxxxxxxx.
Your Bobcat Advising Center (BAC) academic advisor developed these specific, personalized course recommendations and placed you at the highest level of courses possible based on your UC Merced writing, chemistry, math, computer science & engineering placement, your intended major self-reported AP or IB exam scores or college courses completed in high school submitted in the online webform by January 10th, and any official score reports or college transcripts that have already arrived at UC Merced.
The recommended courses will meet the requirements for your major, General Education (GE), the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement, or other degree requirements.
As a first year admit, you will see 4-5 priority course recommendations with 1-4 backup courses in My Degree Path. These are based on the faculty recommendations for sequencing in your intended major as well as your individual academic history (exam scores, college courses completed).
To be on track for graduation, register for these courses at your assigned registration time on December 12, 2022.

NOTE: if you see a recommended course on your First Semester Plan that you believe you have already completed through an AP exam, IB exam, college course or other method, contact the BAC academic advisor who sent the course recommendations message on December 7-8. (We do not want you to take a course that you have already completed.) The reason this might happen:
-
You may not have sent your official transcripts (due January 10) or test scores (due January 10) to UC Merced before we prepared course recommendations.
-
Official test scores and transcripts from other schools continue to arrive daily at UC Merced.

Transcripts, AP, IB or College Courses Taken in High School
If you self-reported or shared unofficial copies of transcripts for college courses taken during high school, remember to submit OFFICIAL transcripts from every college to UC Merced before the January 10, 2023 deadline.
NOTE: official college transcripts are required for all college courses taken, including dual enrollment classes that appear on your high school transcript.
If you believe you have already earned college credits (through AP, IB, or a college course) for a class that is included in your Spring 2023 course recommendations:
-
Email the BAC academic advisor who sent the message on December 7-8. Use your UC Merced email account and include an unofficial copy of the exam score report or college transcript. College transcripts must include your name, the course(s), and the name of the college. Your BAC academic advisor can help you adjust your Spring 23 classes based on that information.
-
If you are pre-health (pre-med, pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy, pre-vet med, etc.), and earned an AP exam score of 3 or higher in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Physics, review the AP Exam Credit Acceptance for Professional Schools in California chart. Contact your BAC temporary summer academic advisor if you have questions. Some medical schools or other health professions graduate programs may require that you repeat the lab biology, chemistry, or physics class in which you have already earned AP credit.
