2019 Regional Reception Alumni Student Speakers

Santa Clara: Sunday, March 31, 2019 


Jamie SweetJamie Sweet Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, UC Merced (Class of 2014). Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Loyola Marymount University.

Currently a Civil Engineer with the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD). EBMUD is a California public utility that supplies high-quality drinking water, generates renewable energy and provides wastewater treatment and pollution prevention services that protect San Francisco Bay.

UC Merced Activities: Student Commencement Speaker (May 2014), National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, currently serves on the UC Merced Alumni Association Board


Sacramento: Friday, April 5, 2019 


Jamie SweetDomonique Jones - Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government (Class of 2016). Resides in Sacramento, CA. Has been the alumni speaker at the Sacramento reception the previous two years.

Currently a Legislative Aid with California State Senate. Additionally, very active in the Sacramento community - Board Member, Black Youth Leadership Project (BYLP) & Treasurer of Black Young Democrats of Sacramento (BYD)

UC Merced Activities: Student Commencement Speaker (May 2016), President – Associated Students at UC Merced (ASUCM). Capital Fellows Graduate Certificate in Applied Policy and Government. Currently serves on the UC Merced Alumni Association Board


Los Angeles: Sunday, April 7, 2019 


Jamie SweetCarlos “Savier” Osorio - Bachelor of Science in Management (Class of 2016). Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management at Pepperdine University.

Currently the People Operations/Recruiting Manager for Thrive Causemetics, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA.
